Frequently Asked Questions

What is Auto Detailing?
Auto detail is the practice and performance of extremely thorough cleaning, polishing, and waxing of a vehicle both inside and out. The end product is to produce a show room, show quality level of detail and satisfaction.
My local car wash offers detailing services. What is the difference between you and them?
A car wash's main focus is to wash cars. Detail services have been added to help provide another service to the car wash customers. Unfortunately, sometimes the people working in car wash detail shops are unqualified and inexperienced at detailing, which puts your vehicle at risk. At Premier Auto Detail, our main focus is auto detailing. We are professional detailers who are trained in the use of buffers and chemical compositions, and we maintain that knowledge through constant training.
When I bought my new car, the salesman told me I have a clear coat on my paint and it NEVER needs waxing. Is this true?
This is a widely misunderstood and incorrectly stated 'fact' that detailers see. The 'clear coat' is part of the paint system used on most cars and trucks. This paint process begins by applying the colored paint, which goes on flat without any shine, protection, or durability. After the color has been applied, a clear, urethane paint is added to make the finish hard and glossy. This clear coat will fade in time if not taken care of properly. This is why we wax the vehicle. Waxing will help protect the exterior from the sun's UV rays, minor scratching, water spots, and dirt contamination.
How often do I need to wax my vehicle after you detail the exterior?
You should have us wax your vehicle every four to six months. If it's a dark colored vehicle, waxing should be done every three to four months. This frequency gives your paint longevity and a crystal clear look without hurting your wallet.
